PieceJob is a South African labour marketplace platform that connects job posters with skilled workers. We are committed to protecting your personal information in accordance with the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) of South Africa.
We collect information you provide when creating an account (name, email address, phone number), information about your use of the platform (jobs posted, bids submitted, messages sent), location information (province, city, suburb), profile information (bio, skills, availability), identity documents uploaded by workers for verification purposes, and profile photographs.
We use your information to operate the platform and connect workers with job posters, to verify worker identities for community safety, to facilitate communication between users, to improve our services, and to display relevant advertising based on anonymised, aggregated data. We never sell individual personal information to third parties.
Worker ID documents are stored securely in a private, encrypted storage system. They are never visible to job posters or other users. ID documents will only be disclosed to South African law enforcement authorities in response to a valid legal request in connection with a reported crime or serious incident that occurred during a job arranged through the platform.
PieceJob displays contextual advertising based on anonymised, aggregated platform data such as skill categories and general location. This data cannot be used to identify any individual user. We do not share personal information with advertisers.
You have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal information at any time. You may also object to the processing of your information for direct marketing purposes. To exercise these rights, contact us at privacy@piecejob.co.za.
We retain your information for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your personal information will be removed from our systems within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.
We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your information, including encrypted storage, secure HTTPS connections, and access controls. No system is perfectly secure, and we encourage you to use a strong password and keep your login details confidential.
