Terms of Service

Last updated: May 2026

1. Acceptance of terms

By creating an account on PieceJob or using our platform at piece-job.co.za, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, do not use the platform.

2. What PieceJob is

PieceJob is an online marketplace that connects job posters (people who need work done) with workers (people who offer their skills and labour). PieceJob is a platform only — we are not an employer, employment agency, or labour broker. We do not employ workers, guarantee the quality of work, or guarantee payment. All agreements, payments and working arrangements are made directly between job posters and workers.

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old and a resident of South Africa to use PieceJob. By creating an account, you confirm that you meet these requirements. Accounts created with false information may be suspended or terminated.

4. Account responsibilities

You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials. You must provide accurate information when creating your profile. You may not create multiple accounts or impersonate another person. You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.

5. Job posters

Posting jobs

Job posters may post jobs describing work they need done. Job descriptions must be accurate, lawful, and not misleading. You may not post jobs for illegal activities, jobs that discriminate on prohibited grounds, or jobs intended to exploit workers.

Payment obligations

When you accept a bid and a worker completes the agreed work, you are obligated to pay the agreed amount. Payment is currently handled directly between poster and worker (cash, EFT, or other agreed method). PieceJob records payment confirmations but does not process payments at this time.

Verification

Job posters may verify their identity by submitting their SA ID number and ID document. Verification is voluntary but verified posters receive a badge and attract more bids from workers.

6. Workers

Bidding on jobs

Workers may browse available jobs and submit bids. Your bid amount and message are visible to the job poster. You may withdraw a pending bid at any time. Once a bid is accepted, you are expected to complete the agreed work.

Quality of work

Workers must perform agreed work to a reasonable standard of quality. If you cannot complete a job, you must communicate this to the poster promptly via the PieceJob messaging system.

Identity verification

Workers are encouraged to verify their identity by submitting their SA ID number and ID document. Verified workers receive badges that increase their visibility and credibility on the platform.

7. Reviews and ratings

After a job is completed, both parties may leave reviews and ratings. Reviews must be honest, fair and based on your actual experience. You may not leave fraudulent reviews, pay for reviews, or threaten negative reviews to obtain concessions. PieceJob reserves the right to remove reviews that violate these terms.

8. Messaging and communication

All job-related communication should take place within PieceJob messaging. Messages are stored securely and may be used as evidence in dispute resolution. You may not use PieceJob messaging to send spam, harassment, threats, or illegal content. Sharing personal contact details via messages is at your own risk — PieceJob is not liable for off-platform interactions.

9. Disputes

If a payment dispute arises, either party may raise a dispute through the platform. PieceJob administrators will review the dispute using available records. PieceJob's dispute resolution is advisory — we do not have the legal authority to enforce payment. For serious disputes, we recommend seeking legal advice or contacting the relevant authorities.

10. Safety and incidents

PieceJob takes safety seriously. If a criminal incident occurs during a job, you should contact SAPS on 10111 immediately. PieceJob will cooperate fully with law enforcement investigations, including disclosing user identity information when legally required under the Criminal Procedure Act 51 of 1977.

PieceJob does not conduct background checks on users. While we provide identity verification tools, these verify that an ID number is valid — they do not screen for criminal history. You are responsible for your own safety when meeting someone from the platform.

11. Prohibited conduct

You may not use PieceJob to engage in any illegal activity, post fraudulent or misleading job listings, manipulate the review or rating system, harass or threaten other users, collect personal information of other users for purposes unrelated to completing a job, or interfere with the operation of the platform.

12. Intellectual property

The PieceJob name, logo, design and software are the property of PieceJob. Content you post on the platform remains your property, but you grant PieceJob a non-exclusive licence to display it on the platform.

13. Limitation of liability

PieceJob is a marketplace platform and is not a party to any agreement between job posters and workers. To the maximum extent permitted by South African law, PieceJob shall not be liable for any loss, damage, injury or claim arising from the use of the platform.

14. Termination

PieceJob reserves the right to suspend or terminate any account at any time for violation of these terms, fraudulent activity, or conduct that undermines the safety or integrity of the platform. You may delete your account at any time by contacting hello@piece-job.co.za.

15. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. Any dispute arising from these terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the South African courts.

16. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated to registered users via email. Continued use of the platform after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.

17. Contact
